John Vestri of Vestris Vettes out of Corona Del Mar, California – exhibitor at Barrett-Jackson events. John takes 50s and 60s model year corvettes and modernizes their workings to turn them in to daily drivers with today’s conveniences. Just think. A 1959 Corvette with a CD player. “So, do you put the original vette body over updated innards?” We'll find out!

Come along for a great fall day of Corvette driving on some of Berks County's beautiful country roads that twist and turn through the farmlands and woodlands. We have chosen a route that will begin in Morgantown and we'll finish near Kutztown. We'll meet at the Heritage Restaurant in Morgantown along Route 10 for breakfast at 9 am. Around 10 am we'll begin our road trip going through several covered bridges along the way enjoying a beautiful fall day. Bring your camera. We're also going to do a 5-card poker run. At several stops you'll receive a card. Gift certificates from Brickel's Vette Collectibles will be awarded to the best three hands! Should be fun! At the end of the run we'll converge at a nice place for some food, drink, socializing and fun! 11/4/06: Kerbeck Toys-For-Tots Run, Atlantic City NJ
Kerbeck's Annual U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots Atlantic City Corvette Run Official Schedule:
Skyline Drive members wishing to participate should notify Ron Grove for a head count at rgrove@reliant.com if possible. The group will meet for breakfast at the Heritage Restaurant near Morgantown on Rte 10 at 9 am and leaving at 10 am.

Assemble at: Farley Plaza on the Atlantic City Expressway
When: 12 Noon Saturday, November 4th, 2006.

There will be NJ State Police and Atlantic City Police on hand as well as signs posted by South Jersey Transportation Authority indicating the staging area for the Corvette Caravan. We will be heading to Atlantic City between 12:45pm to 1 PM., traveling east on the Atlantic City Expressway in a single file lead by the NJ State Police and an Official Corvette Pace Car from the American LeMans Series Races that will be sent by General Motors Corvette Team. Kerbeck will be covering the tolls this year so that all Corvettes in the Run may stay in formation. All those with EZ-Pass please remove your pass from your windshield prior to the start of the run or you will be billed. We will be exiting off the Expressway at Exit 2. Once off the Atlantic City Expressway we will drive to the Kerbeck Corvette Dealership. Corvettes will be guided through the lot where staff will be on hand to welcome you; each driver will be given a dash plaque and a door prize ticket. Toys will be received and placed in the showroom.

The Corvettes will then travel individually out of the back of the dealership where Atlantic City Police will guide you across the street to park at the Surf Baseball Stadium. Kerbeck will be supplying trolleys to transport everyone back to the showroom where the toys will be displayed.

There will be food and beverages for everyone. We will be giving away door prizes and selling chances for an autographed bumper from a C5-R Race Car. We expect quite a large crowd and it should be a tremendous showing for the Marines Toys for Tots Charity.

You must bring at least one new, unopened toy for a boy or girl, there is no limit on the number of toys you may bring. If the toy you brought requires batteries, we ask that you attach the batteries to the toy that is required to operate it.

The event will be running until approximately 3:30pm/4:00pm. All are free to stay as long after as they like to view the Corvette showroom, the Kerbeck Museum of Muscle Cars, awards and trophy cases.

Catering by Hess Barbecue. Trophies: Sam Hippey took first in his class, Ginger Hippey took first in her class, Ron Grove took 2nd in his class. It was a chilly & very windy day.

10/28/06: Saturday - FYI - Cruise at A&W Drive-In, 259 N. Reading Road, Ephrata, PA
2PM to 6PM. Live music by "The Nomads" from 3PM to 5PM. People's Choice Trophy. 50-cent hot dogs, 50-cent french fries, 99-cent medium drinks, Door Prizes every hour, balloons, face-painting (for the kids), free ice cream cone for kids 12 + under with an adult purchase.

12 Vettes attended. Again, the crowds loved the vettes.

10/22/06: Sunday - FYI - "3rd Annual Corvettes at the AACA Museum Fun Show" at the Antique Aotumobile Club of America Museum, 161 Museum Drive, Hershey, PA Pre-Registration $25, day of show $30. NCCC Santion # ER-107 Registration opens 9AM, closes 11AM. Drivers meeting 11:15AM
Included with each car entered will be two tickets to the AACA Museum; a 4x6 digital photo of you and your car in front of the museum, trophies, food, door prizes, museum road rally. Poker rally is $5 extra. Proceeds benefit AACA Museum and YCCC charities.

10/21/2006: Saturday - FYI - Fleetwood Rotary Annual Car Show at Fleetwood Community Park - Rain Or Shine. Was originally scheduled for Sep 23rd but it rained.
$12.00 Registration 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM, Judging at 12 Noon, Awards at 2:30 PM. 3 Corvette classes: 53-67, 68-80, 80-96. There 22 Classes overall for various types of classic cars. Door prizes, 50/50 Drawing, food, entertainment, games. Fleetwood Community Park is along Blandon Road (aka Park Road), north of Rte 73 between Walnuttown & Fleetwood... on the left side just before you enter downtown Fleetwood. Ample parking in the sun or under the trees. Muddy from the previous day's rain.

10/21/06: Saturday - From 9AM on. Volunteers needed to help cleanup the SDC Trailer at Hoover Motors (our primary sponsor), Wernersville PA. Involves washing & waxing, cleaning & spray painting the wheels, etc. No heavy lifting. Bring your Coffee Cup! Barry Goodhart Coordinator. A bunch of SDC members attended & gave the trailer a good cleaning & repainted the wheels & trailer hitch.

10/12/06 thru 10/15/06: - FYI - Ocean City MD boardwalk show. Once again Free State Corvette Club will be hosting their big weekend in Ocean City MD. This has always been a great weekend and we are again planning to attend. This year we will be staying at the Days Inn at 23rd St on the Boardwalk. More details on Pg 7 of the May 2006 SDC Newsletter and Pg 10 of the July 2006 Newsletter.

10/14/06: Saturday - Parade - Mohnton Lions Halloween Parade
Assembled at 5:30, parade didn't start until near 8PM, long uphill then windy downhill through Mohnton. Kids crowded the cars hoping to be thrown candy. Some nice comments about the Corvettes, but you needed to watch that you didn't run over any kids scrambling for candy. Two policemen asked if the Vette could spin the tires. I said "A set of Goodyear Eagles costs $670. Who who I send the bill to?" A better answer would have been "We're not allowed to throw stones to anyone behind us."

10/9/2006: SDC Meeting at BCIU. We're back to the regular winter meeting location until next May. Map & Directions
For those of you coming from out-of-town, Arner's Restaurant is nearby.
Meeting starts at 7. People start showing up after 6:15pm. Park anywhere in the parking lot. When you go in the main door of BCIU, go down the hall to the right. The Receptionist can guide you.
If you are wearing your SDC Badge, you don't need to sign-in the logbook.
Likewise, after the meeting, don't be in such a big hurry to leave. Hang around & talk Vettes & get to know the other people.
Introduce yourself to the others; we're all a friendly group!
If you have a Corvette question, ask it during the New Business part of the meeting, near the end. Also let President Ron Grove know about your question before the meeting so he knows to put you into the schedule.

An enjoyable parade. Nice & wide; no crowding of the cars. Good comments from the thousands of spectators.

10/7/06: Official SDC Event - Corvette & Ferrari Show Clover Hill Winery, Rte 222 Maxatawny PA (Breiningsville location) 11AM to 3PM - Rain Or Shine. Car display only.
You can drive up alone, or you can Caravan from Arner's Restaurant on Rte 61. Caravan leaving Arner's at 10AM; Barry Goodhart leading.
Presented by the Penn-Jersey Region of the Ferrari Club of America and Skyline Drive Corvettes. Open to all Corvettes.
Come and enjoy a relaxing fall day at the winery in celebration of these incredible sports cars. Parking on the grass. Bring your chairs, blanket & picnic basket. No food will be available, just wine!
Break out your best picnic display with tablecloths, napkins, china, candelabras, etc. Prizes for Best Display and runner-up.
Pre-registration $25 due by 9/15/06 includes 1 car registration for 2 people, 2 winery tours and tastings, 2 glasses and a special event labeled bottle of wine. Additional people $12.50 each includes tour and wine glass. Alternately, 1 car registration and single person is $20 pre-registration. Day of Show registration is $30 but does not include the bottle of wine.

10/1/06: Sunday - FYI - Car Show at Maindencreek Township Community Days
Cars can arrive 8AM to 11AM. Show from 11AM to 2:30PM. Three trophies awarded at 2:30PM. Crafts, food, music until 4PM. Location: From Rte 222, go right onto Rte 73, then left at the next light at Park Road (Fleetwood Road). Go 1.5 miles on Park Road, turn left on E. Wessner Road into Maidencreek Community Park. Here's a list of Skyline Drive Corvette Club's events and other non-club events that people like to participate in. If you're thinking about joining SDC, you're welcome to participate as much or as little as you'd like. There's no pressure either way. You'll enjoy being a Skyline Drive member!!

9/30/06: Saturday - FYI - The Humane Society's "Walk for the Animals" is this Saturday, September 30 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Shearer's Barbeque Ranch in Sinking Spring. (Rte 222 South, Gouglersville exit) This is their major fundraiser of the year, and admission is free. The walk will feature educational displays by area non-profits and rescue groups, great food, drink (wine and beer) and non-stop music and entertainment. SDC will have a tent set up to sell some items and hand out information and an area for us to display our cars. This is a huge event and a great opportunity for SDC to get some exposure to a wide array of individuals, businesses and organizations. Even if you're not an animal lover, there will be plenty of entertainment, food, beverages and lots of other vendors on hand. If you would like to bring your car (be there by 9:30 a.m.), please call Linda Spangenberg at 610-856-1497. 9/23/06: Saturday - 11AM to 3PM - - FYI - Free Mid-Day Car Show in the Oley High School parking lot, across the street from the Oley Fair. No charge. The Oley Fair is happening and people can walk across the street to see the cars. No pre-registration necessary.
As of 9/15, they have only 15 cars pre-registered. I'd imagine that most cruisers will be at the Fleetwood show above or at other shows.

9/21/06: Thursday - 5 PM to 9 PM - SDC Night Out at The Works in Wyomissing, PA
Skyline Drive Corvettes and The Works have teamed up again to provide a special night of fun & food. During that evening The Works will donate 20% of the proceeds from all food & drink purchases and 10% of the proceeds from all game card purchases that are turned in with a special 'flyer' back to SDC. The flyers will be available at SDC Meetings as well as printed in the September newsletter. Invite all family, friends, neighbors & everyone who would be interested - they just need a flyer! It should be another fun evening.

9/10/06: Sunday - FYI - 5th Annual Car Show at Womelsdorf Park in Womelsdorf PA. Car show from 12 noon, Live band, Flaming Dick at 4PM. Food. $10 entry fee. Go Rte 422, go left at the Y into Womelsdorf, driveway is on the left side. SDC Vettes parked together. We had a good time.

9/10/06: Sunday - FYI - 35th annual Strausstown Lions Club's Antique auto show at Strausstown Playground, Strausstown PA. Just off Rte 183. All antique cars needed to be pre-registered by Sept 2nd, so says their advertisement dtd Sept 8th. Flea market, refreshments, barbeque chicken dinners, music by Bits-N-Pieces.

9/4/06: Monday - Labor Day Parade. Official SDC Event.
Breakfast at O'Grady's on Rte 61, north of Reading PA.
LineUp for the parade at 12:00 Noon at 8th & Penn Streets, Reading PA. The parade should take 2 hours. ('til around 2PM)
The parade travels through the city and disbands on Front Street at First Energy Stadium. The Reading Phillies beverage vendors will operate at the stadium until 4PM.
If you wish to park & go into the stadium... (i.e.bathrooms!) please do.
At 4PM the stadium will have announcements & crowning of the winners of the annual Labor Day Royalty contests, the drawing the winning tickets for the Walt Disney trip, cash prizes, scholarships and the winning entries in the parade.

55 overall Classes, but only 5 Corvette classes. Three trophies per class: 1953-1962 Corvettes, 1963-1967 Corvettes, 1968-1982 Corvettes, 1983-2000 Corvettes, Modified Corvettes all years. Note: No class assigned for 2001-Present Corvettes. Proceeds benefit Trinity UCC Church, Rehrersburg, PA but no cost listed on the Flyer. Call Tim 717-933-5401

Many SDC members attended at least one day of the event. At least 3 SDC members were in various vendor tents. Stoudt's, Brickek's, Vestri's Vettes. Sunday was rainy.

8/24/06: Thursday 7PM- SDC Ice Cream Run Pennside Drive-In (not the Jefferson Drive-In as previously mentioned.) 7 SDC Vettes attended. Nice little chat at the picnic tables on a cool evening.

8/20/06: Sunday 9AM - Official SDC Event. SDC has been invited to visit the Corvette collection of the late Chip Miller by his son Lance. This is a special private tour. An excellent article about this Corvette collection was recently featured in the May 2006 issue of Corvette Enthusiast magazine. Lance Miller requests that the number of participants be limited to 50. We will meet for breakfast that morning at 9 AM at the Heritage Restaurant in Morgantown then caravan via the PA Turnpike to Carlisle. The regular August meeting will be held at the home of Matt & Jen Goss. Rte 183 near Bern Church. Directions are in the SDC Newsletter.
If it rains that night, the meeting will be postponed till the next clear evening. Call the Goss's if you have questions. Members are reminded to bring chairs.

The club has voted to donate $500 to the event. SDC meets for breakfast at 8AM at O'Mally's on Perkiomen Ave, Reiffton, then caravan to the show at 9AM. 6/25/06: Sunday - 5PM SDC Ice Cream run to Heisler's. Caravan will meet at Arner's on Rte 61 at 5pm, however if you want to go later, here's the Map & Directions. Directions to Arner's Restaurant: Go Rte 222 (Road to Nowhere) get off at Rte 61 South, go 200 ft to first traffic light, make a left into the parking lot.
Heisler's has mini golf, a driving range, an arcade, waffles, strawberries & ice cream. This should be an entertaining run! Rained-out

The Berkshire Mall Display is a great way to highlight our club, advertise our coming events and to help with our finances. We are looking for 50 Corvettes so please sign up at a Club meeting or phone Dan Keppley. Members are also needed for our Club table for sales and information, and to patrol the display areas. Contact Barry Goodhart if you can donate some time.
In past years we had up to 53 Vettes in the mall. We have 41 to date. I will only accept a few more.We always have last minute cancellations and one or two no shows.We should be in good shape. All cars get assigned a spot in the mall before entering. Pretzel City just had 35 Rods in the mall. Dan Keppley

6/14/06: Wednesday - 5 PM to 9 PM - Skyline Drive Corvettes and The Works have teamed up to provide a special night of fun & food. During the evening, The Works will donate 20% of the proceeds from all food & drink purchases and 10% of the proceeds from all game card purchases that are turned in with a special "Flyer" back to SDC. The event is open to SDC members, family, friends and everyone who would be interested in an evening of fun!

Rte 73 directly across the road from Ontelaunee Lake.
From Rte 61: Turn right on Rte 73, go across dam breast; 1 mi. ahead is a right turn, go 100 ft and turn right again into Rajah Shrine parking lot.
From Rte 222: Turn left onto Rte 73, go up over the ridge, make left turn at the intersection with the white concrete road barrier. Map & Directions
Excellent meeting. Weather was nice but chilly. 104 Members attended, plus new applicants, guests & sponsors.

6/11/06: FYI Mohnton Lions Club Car Show & Cruise 9AM to 3PM at Mohnton Memorial Park. Note: The morning Car Show should be good. The afternoon parade on uphill & downhill streets may not be good for throw-out bearings at such a slow speed. Map

15 5/30/06: Tuesday. Oley Valley Elementary School.
8 Corvettes attended. The kids read 32,000 books this year and 50 kids were awarded a "ride in a Corvette" as a prize. We picked up the kids on the side of the school, then took them around to the other side where the whole school lined the driveway and cheered their friends on. Oh, to be a kid again... 10 5/14/06: Sunday - FYI - Mother's Day! 20th Annual Mother's Day Rod Run at Oley Fairgrounds. Car Registration 8am to Noon. Open to Street Rods and Customs through 1972. Open to public at 10AM to around 4PM. Admission $2.00 Plenty of Family Fun - Chinese Auction, Games for all ages, Raffles, Door Prizes, Flea Market, Bingo, 50-50 Drawing, DJ. No Pets, No Alcohol. Rain or Shine NSRA Safety Inspection on grounds. This is an opportunity to see another club's annual event.
No rain in Oley, but rain in other parts of Berks County stopped a lot of people from going.

Pagoda Skyline Inc. had their annual Half Chicken dinner. The chicken was done & fell off the bone (not raw like some others). 15 Corvettes attended, then 13 Corvettes went over to Boehringer's in Adamstown for ice cream. Everyone had a good time, especially what's-his-name with the new engine.
